Meet The Team
Mercy Alliance is a mission-driven organization dedicated to catalyzing spiritual and social transformation through the principles of Disciple Making Movements (DMM). Led by Executive Director Roy Moran, the Alliance serves as a strategic hub for training, resource development, and regional coordination, helping faith communities move beyond traditional "attractional" models toward a more dynamic, "Come/Go" hybrid strategy. By equipping leaders with digital tools, educational courses, and collaborative networks, Mercy Alliance empowers people to spark movements of change that transcend physical church walls and impact their local neighborhoods and the world.

Roy Moran is a visionary leader, author, and strategist dedicated to reimagining the intersection of the local church and global disciple-making. As the Executive Director of Mercy Alliance, Roy oversees the organization’s mission to foster collaborative movements that catalyze spiritual and social transformation across borders.
In 1992, Roy, alongside his wife Candy and a small core team, founded Shoal Creek Community Church in Kansas City. Under his leadership as Directional Leader, Shoal Creek has grown into a thriving community of over 1,000 members by focusing specifically on reaching those who are unaccustomed to traditional church environments. A tireless advocate for “spiritual literacy,” Roy has spent decades helping individuals navigate their faith journeys in practical, accessible ways.
Roy is perhaps best known globally for pioneering the “Hybrid Church” concept. This innovative framework creates a powerful synergy between the traditional “attractional” church model and the rapid, decentralized principles of Disciple Making Movements (DMM). By emphasizing a “Come/Go” strategy, Roy’s work allows the gospel to move freely beyond the physical walls of a building, empowering everyday believers to spark movements in their own neighborhoods and networks.
Beyond his work at Shoal Creek and Mercy Alliance, Roy serves on the Board of Directors for the Institute of International Medicine (INMED) and Beyond. He is a sought-after speaker and consultant for leaders looking to bridge the gap between legacy institutional structures and the dynamic growth of movement-based ministry.
Roy and Candy continue to live and lead in the Kansas City area, driven by a lifelong commitment to seeing the gospel flourish in every corner of the world.
