Overview
Disciple makers worldwide are taking the command of Jesus in Luke 10:2 and Matthew 9:38 seriously. They are asking God earnestly—beseeching Him—to thrust an unprecedented number of laborers into the ripening and already ripe harvest fields. Whether you are a seasoned missionary or just starting to form a team to reach your neighborhood, praying at 10:02 is a simple, yet powerful habit to begin.
Understanding this Command
Jesus sent out the Twelve (Luke 9:1-6) and then 72 others (Luke 10:1) to prepare the way for every village and town He would enter. Jesus observed, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.” He then commanded His disciples, “Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field” (Matthew 9:37, 38; Luke 10:2).

There is a great and ready harvest, but far too few laborers.

The Lord of the harvest is up to the task of answering prayer and sending vast numbers of laborers to harvest in places all over the world.

We are not asking for laborers who need to be persuaded or convinced. We are asking God to “send forth” disciple makers who are highly motivated for seeing God’s Kingdom expand. (The Greek word for “send forth” is a very forceful, almost violent term. For example, it is used for casting out a demon.)
Getting Started

Set your watch alarm to go off at 10:02 every day. (You can use 9:38 based on Matthew’s Gospel, if you prefer.) When your alarm goes off, follow Jesus’ simple command by praying for more laborers (disciple makers) for the harvest.

Invite others to join you in this prayer. You may even want to call or text each other to agree in prayer together.
Helpful Tips

Don’t think that since this is a simple prayer, you won’t have significant results. There are numerous testimonies from around the world where missionaries started with this prayer and saw amazing answers.

When you pray, ask for a particular geographical area like your neighborhood, community, or place of employment. You will have the privilege of seeing the answered prayer first hand.

This is not a one-time prayer request. Consider the parable of the persistent widow in Luke 18. Don’t give up, even if you pray for 700 days in a row.
